Met Murphy while visiting New Orleans with Cherry. Murphy would only allow me to jam after I passed a rhythm test that he quickly administered.
He was in the process of working his way across the country from Baltimore, and went on to settle down in Seattle.
So happy a few years later to see him compete on American Idol.
